Holiday Research Writing Project

- Create a research paper with outline, note cards, source cards, rough draft, and Bibliography. The paper must be typed in Google.docs and shared with the teacher via e-mail. All up-dates or corrections must also be shared via e-mail.
- Select a country (not the United States) and discuss in detail the customs, background, superstitions, relligious beliefs, food, music, literature, art and decorations, and games if applicable that are used for the winter holiday (e.g. Christmas, Kwanzaa, Diwali, Hanukkah, Oshogatsu, New Year's)--4grades
- Present a synopsis of your paper to the class and employ a visual aid (artifact, costume, poster, power point, skit, recording, performance, etc.)--4 grades
- Sources: A minimum of three sources must be used including a printed text (book, magazine, pamphlet, etc.) and an electronic text (internet, cd rom). Standard MLA format bor the Bibliography and citations should be used. See MLA Bibliographic Format.
- Remember to refer to your Writing Tips handout. Use 3rd person, spelling and grammar usage should be checked; avoid "I think" and "I believe;" do not start paragraphs with personal pronouns; combine sentences and use a variety of sentences; use at least one quote appropriately; employee elaboration techniques.
***** Avoid Plagiarism: Without a Bibliography, citations, note cards and source cards, and a rough draft, your paper will not be graded. No presentation will be accepted without the paper since this is a research project. This project has a deadline; therefore, it will not be accepted late.*****
